Levaquin (Levofloxacin) is an antibiotic fighting against certain bacterial infections in the body

Levaquin is an antibiotic for treating certain infections caused by bacteria, such as chlamydia, bronchitis, mastitis, pneumonia, gonorrhea, certain skin and urinary tract infections, as well as prostatitis. It can be also used in cases not mentioned here, as prescribed to you by a doctor. Take Levaquin strictly as your doctor prescribed. Take the drug orally with a full glass of water 1 hour before or 2 hours after the meal. Swallow undivided. Drink at least 2 liters of fluid a day while taking the drug.

Levaquin interacts with certain drugs; note to take it at least 2 hours before and 2 hours after antacids containing aluminum or magnesium, as well as mineral supplements with iron or zinc as these minerals prevent the drug components from absorption. Don't stop the drug use before the end of course, even if you feel well.

Levaquin belongs to the class of fluoroquinolones antibiotics. It works by blocking generation and multiplication of bacteria in the body.
